Fundraising to empower the next generation of natural world storytellers

Emerging Talent Breakthroughs

16 April 2021 | Wildscreen

Join us for a taster session of what you can expect to learn from our Emerging Talent Scheme launching later this year.

Wildscreen are hosting a free webinar to explain our new Emerging Talent scheme, which will initially be trialled in Bristol and the UK with a view to making it accessible with our global partners, making it a truly international offering.

You will hear from other relatable emerging talent who are studying or have just started out in their natural history careers as they share their experiences and challenges of breaking into the natural history industry. British Bangladesh ornithologist, environmentalist and campaigner for equal rights, Mya-Rose Craig, aka Birdgirl will open the event with a pre-recorded video. Joining the panel live is established wildlife presenter, filmmaker and PhD candidate biologist, Dan O'Neill. Both Mya-Rose and Dan will talk about their routes into the industry. Not only that, you will also get the chance to ask the panellists questions in a live Q&A!

Book your free ticket on Eventbrite.

We have sent out a survey for Emerging Talent to complete to guide in developing the offering of the scheme. From the survey we found that only 25% of 85 respondents felt that the industry is supportive of Emerging Talent and that the top three resources they want support with are:

1. Mentorship Schemes

2. Platform to Network with Industry

3. Skills Based masterclasses

Our brand new Emerging Talent scheme will cover these top three resources and be guided by a working group of new and international talent. Throughout 22-29 April, we will be fundraising to support our Emerging Talent scheme. The Big Give - a non-profit, charitable website that enables donors to find and support charity projects in their field of interest - are match-funding all donations we receive up to £2,500 - increasing the impact of your funds and helping us support more emerging talent. As part of the fundraising activity we're doing a T-Shirt campaign with Everpress to sell 100 t-shirts designed in collaboration with Tom Abbiss Smith.

Find out how you can support Wildscreen empower the next generation of natural world storytellers and promote an inclusive and diverse industry.
