Wildscreen Partners with ASPIRE to increase Boardroom Diversity

27 June 2022 | Wildscreen

Did you know that from the top 500 charities in the UK, only 8% of Trustees are People of Colour, of which only 2.9% are women of colour?

Conceived and delivered by BeOnBoard, the award-winning Equality & Diversity Leadership Consultancy, ASPIRE is a pioneering Boardroom development program. First launched on Martin Luther King Jr’s birthday, and aiming to change the face of Bristol’s VCSE (Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise) boardrooms for good.

ASPIRE is matching its first 12 aspiring Trustees with six local VCSE organisations; an intersectional mix of people who hail from different sectors, ages and social backgrounds. Wildscreen is thrilled to be part of this inaugural programme, as it welcomes two members of the cohort to its Board of Trustees as observers:

  • Karen Michael-Cox, I3WORKS, Principal Consultant
  • Rushwet Motsi, MOD, Senior Finance Business Partner

Laura Marshall, Chair of Wildscreen states, "Wildscreen feels that this programme addresses many of the issues we have identified as a priority for our organisation. We are excited and committed to the process of understanding the barriers to and the importance of diversification of the Trusteeship.”

Over the next 6 months, the ASPIRE cohort will benefit from themed workshops, peer to peer action learning, coaching and fireside chats with people who have broken through the glass ceiling. And at the end of ASPIRE, BeOnBoard will work closely with the Aspiree’s to place them on a Board that aligns with their expertise and experience

ASPIRE is funded by the National Lottery.
