Director, Whitley Fund for Nature
Danni is the Director of Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN), a fundraising and grant giving charity focused on supporting grassroots conservationists across the Global South.
Though the Whitley Awards programme, WFN provides funding, training, and international recognition to local conservation leaders who are working with communities to bring environmental solutions to scale for people, endangered wildlife, and climate. These coveted prizes are awarded annually and presented in London by WFN Patron, HRH The Princess Royal.
As Director Danni oversees the charity’s operations, partnerships and conservation programmes, her work contributing to raising and distributing over £19m GBP in grants to Asia, Africa and Latin America building a 200 strong alumni network across 80 countries to realise WFN’s mission.
In October 2021 WFN published a joint open letter to world leaders with 14 other conservation NGOs calling for greater financing of locally led initiatives to address the interconnected climate and biodiversity crises, whilst highlighting the need to recognise Nature-based Solutions at COP26 as a crucial part of our recovery.
Danni has always enjoyed nature and the outdoors, having spent time working for conservation projects both in the UK and overseas, with meeting the inspiring Whitley Award winners being a career highlight.
Danni will be joining the Nature-based Solutions panel with Whitley Award winner Ximena Velez-Liendo, WFN Ambassador, author and broadcaster Tom Heap, Rebecca Wrigley of Rewilding Britain, and the IUCN’s Commission on Ecosystem Management Chair, Angela Andrade.
Danni will be participating on the Nature-based Solutions panel session.
