How to get to Bristol
Whether you choose to fly, drive, take the train or bus (or even boat!) Bristol is one of the most easily accessible cities in the UK. We have compiled useful links and information to make your journey to the heart of the South West as smooth as possible.
With direct flights to over 100 destinations, and connections to 300 more, Bristol Airport is the transport hub of the South West. Getting to and from Bristol Airport couldn't be easier, the Bristol Flyer runs every 8 - 10 minutes from outside the airport and will take you to Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol bus station.
By train – If you're arriving into Heathrow, take the Heathrow Express to London Paddington which takes around 15 minutes, and then catch a train from London Paddington to Bristol Temple Meads. By coach – The National Express coach service runs directly from Heathrow Airport to Bristol Bus Station. Coaches run approximately once an hour, and the journey time is approximately 2 hours. For more information go to the National Express website.
By train – If you're arriving into Gatwick then you can catch the Gatwick Express to London Victoria. This train runs every 15 minutes and takes around 30 minutes. You will then need to take the London underground to Paddington station where you can catch the train to Bristol Temple Meads. By train – If you're arriving into Stansted then you can catch the Stansted Express to London Liverpool Street which runs every 15 minutes and takes 45 minutes. You'll then need to take the London Underground to Paddington station to catch the train to Bristol Temple Meads. For more information on train timetables, go to the National Rail website.
By train – If you're arriving into Luton then you can catch the train from Luton Airport Parkway Station to London St Pancras which runs approx every 10 – 15 mins (journey time approx 45 minutes). You'll then need to take the Underground to Paddington station and catch the train to Bristol Temples Meads. For more information on train timetables, go to the National Rail website.
Bristol Temple Meads is the main railway station, situated approximately 15 minutes' walk from the City Centre. The 8 and 9 bus services run frequently between Bristol Temple Meads Station and the city centre, Broadmead and Cabot Circus.
CrossCountry trains operate between Bristol Temple Meads and Birmingham, the North East, Edinburgh and Penzance. First Great Western run regular services to Bristol from London Paddington, Reading, Swindon, Bath, Taunton, Exeter, Plymouth, Cardiff, Gloucester and Cheltenham.
Bristol Parkway station is situated to the north of the city and can be accessed via First bus no. 73, which runs regularly between Bristol Parkway and the city centre. CrossCountry trains run services to Bristol Parkway from Penzance, Birmingham, the North East and Scotland. First Great Western also run services to, through and from Bristol Parkway.
The M32 runs directly into Bristol with links from both the M4 and M5. From the M4, exit at junction 19 (signpost to Bristol) and follow the M32 into the city centre. From the M5, exit at junction 18 and follow the A4 Portway (signpost Bristol Airport) into the city centre.
