John Harrington

John Harrington, Photographer and Filmmaker

For over three decades, John has covered the world of politics, traveled internationally, and worked as a photographer and filmmaker. John's work has appeared in The Washington Post, The New York Times, USA Today, Time, Life, Newsweek, The National Geographic Society, and Rolling Stone, among many others.

John’s best-selling book, Best Business Practices for Photographers entered it’s 3rd edition in the Fall of 2017, and John has produced three commissioned books for the Smithsonian.

 
John has lectured across the United States to events for the American Society of Media Photographers, American Photographic Artists, and Professional Photographers of America. John also previously served two terms as the President of the White House News Photographers Association in May of 2011.

A 2007 recipient of the United Nations' Leadership Award in the field of photography, John also received the NPPA's Morris Berman Citation in 2007 for special contributions advancing the interests of photojournalism, and in 2013 John received the J. Winton Lemen Fellowship Award for continuing outstanding service in the interests of press photography and for outstanding technical achievement in photography.
