Larissa Sousa, Girls Education Program Manager at Gorongosa National Park
I am 27 years old, MBA graduate (done in Zimbabwe) and trained in International Business Management and Controlling (in Finland-Germany) and did my primary and secondary education in Mozambique. I am very passionate about the work I do with human development towards efforts in conservation in Gorongosa National Park – GNP. I was honored to be invited to join this integrated project to help change the lives of many woman and girls around the buffer zone as well as raise awareness on conservation in general. And we are doing this by implementing an after-school program (Girls Clubs) working with girls between the ages of 10-16 years old in the communities with the objective of keeping girls in schools, avoiding early marriages and improving their life skills to ensure girls have the tools they need to face the world as it is. Prior to joining the GNP, I have worked in different places, in Germany mainly at Daimler-Benz as the person of contact for the PLS (Production Learning System) program between Germany and Brazil (1yr). In Mozambique, I worked as Location Manager for the American Demining company called The HALO Trust (2yrs) and as a School administrator in Njerenje Chimoio (2 yrs).
