Our Blue Planet

Is it possible to get one billion people talking about our oceans? Blue Planet II struck a chord with audiences and the aim of Our Blue Planet has been to continue that conversation and legacy. Through original content on platforms including Facebook, YouTube, Instagram and Twitter; the project has adopted innovative approaches to natural history storytelling and is the first project of it’s kind to run alongside a BBC landmark series. Stories have covered important conservation issues; educating audiences about things like plastic pollution, coral bleaching, ocean acidification and the importance of protected marine parks. Utilising new storytelling formats like 360 video and Facebook Live have immersed audiences, putting them in the middle of ocean stories to create a connection. By collaborating with ocean passionate people and influential platforms the project has also told stories to younger and more diverse audiences who wouldn’t necessarily watch a documentary series on television.
