Wild Alaska Live - A production case study

This session will look at the logistics of hosting a live TX over a period of one week from a remote location and the issues this brings.

George Panayiotou has over 25 years experience in the television and film industry. Having spent a number of years running a camera rental company, he joined Films at 59 in 1997 and has been involved with the company’s growth in providing extensive and comprehensive post-production services to local, national and international clients.
He was involved with the company’s move into picture post-production in 2000 when they were the first UK post house to invest in High Definition facilities.
As well as his primary role of identifying and developing new business opportunities, George is involved with the company’s technical and innovation recommendations. He has a sound knowledge of UHD HDR workflows and is aware of the need to stay at the forefront of an ever changing technological market in order to meet their client’s creative aspirations. George is also a RTS West of England committee member and sits on the Board of Bristol Media.

Maria Norman is a Unit Manager for the BBC’s Natural History Unit.
In this lead operational role Maria works to continuously drive improvement and move the business forward.
She works hard to align productions with genre strategy and ensure that the NHU’s productions are amongst the best in the world.
Within the NHU she has a large portfolio including Springwatch, Wild Alaska Live, Animals with Cameras, Nature’s Epic Journeys, Yellowstone:Wildest Winter to Blazing Summer and Attenborough at 90
Many of the productions involve fresh and new challenges to deliver new and never seen before animals behaviour to the audience
In this role Maria works closely with Productions, the Exec group, BBC Commissioning, BBC Worldwide and many Co Producers.
